How to Remove Claude Watermark
There are two different kinds of AI text watermark, and removing them takes two different tools. This AI text watermark remover combines both layers in one place — and it is honest about which layer works on which watermark.
Character sweep
Quick Clean scans for 34+ invisible Unicode characters — zero-width spaces, narrow no-break spaces, byte-order marks, bidi controls, tag characters — and strips them in one click. Instant against hidden-character watermarks used by ChatGPT and similar tools. Runs 100% locally.
Deep rewrite
Claude's SynthID-Text watermark lives in word choice, not characters — deleting characters can't touch it. Deep Rewrite sends your text through an LLM that paraphrases it, breaking the original statistical pattern. Best-effort: it weakens the watermark, and we say so plainly.
Nothing stored
Quick Clean never leaves your browser — you can disconnect from the internet and it still works. Deep Rewrite passes your text through an API exactly once; input and output are never written to a database. No accounts, no logs of your content.
What Are Invisible Unicode Characters?
Unicode contains dozens of code points that occupy space in a string but render no visible glyph. AI tools sometimes embed them as a hidden-character watermark; they also slip in through copy-paste from PDFs and web pages. Here are the most common ones this tool detects:
How Claude's Watermark Actually Works
No hidden characters. The watermark lives in which words Claude chose.
Anthropic's Claude text watermark is based on SynthID-Text, a statistical scheme. As Claude writes, it nudges its word choices in a direction only the watermark key can verify. The text looks perfectly clean — no zero-width spaces, no strange formatting — because the signal is the sequence of words itself. Think of a die that keeps landing on the digits of pi: every roll looks random, but the sequence is provably not.
claude watermark: choices follow a keyed sequence — looks random, verifiably isn't
quick clean : removes hidden characters → no effect here
deep rewrite : paraphrases the text → breaks the sequence
This is why every "Unicode cleaner" on the market fails against Claude. If your text came from Claude, use Deep Rewrite — and treat the result as best-effort, since Anthropic's official detector is not public and no tool can promise a complete removal.
